Review:

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I LOVED IT! There were so many emotions that went through me when I read this book. Mostly frustration because Tris and Four could be so stupid sometimes. But don't let that hold you back from enjoying this book. It is MINDBLOWING! I was........was so enthralled in it. I hated that I finished it. I wish it went on and on. *Sigh

Anyway, Insurgent starts where Divergent left off, with Marcus, Tris, Four (Tobias), Caleb, and Peter on the train headed for Amity, the peace hippies. There, they hope to find safe ground and figure things out. Well, it was all good until the traitor Dauntless and the evil Erudite come looking for them. So the start running again and head for Candor, but they meet an old frienemy on the way there, and then BAM! NEW CHARACTER THAT IS SO SURPRISING THAT I WAS LIKE: NO. FREAKING. WAY. And the background of this character was shocking. I didn't even know Abnegation did that.

Well, at Candor, we find out what Four's biggest regret is. I was kinda shocked, but at the same time, I felt that Four started to grow a bit more and more afterwards. He started to be a leader, a true leader, among the Dauntless and he got over one fear, even though he replaced it with another. And he stands up to his dad! Well, not really 'stand' up, but he does something that got me thinking: "That was unnecessary yet necessary at the same time. It was about time." I love Four. (Note: I'm not a fan of his actually name.)

Now I believe that Four's and Tris's simulation results were the same. Abnegation, Dauntless, and Eurdite. Four showed mostly Dauntless and Erudite in both books. I'm sure he's capable of Abnegation, but he doesn't show it that often. But Tris, yeah she does. She shows her Eudite by her talking. At some points, she figures out things that some of the rebel Erudite would say, like figuring out why Jeanine wouldn't come to a meeting between representatives. And because of the incident with Will, she's changed. In Divergent, she because this brave, short blonde girl with a gun. In Insurgent, she's scared to pick one up, and soon she starts becoming more Abnegation and starts taking risks to save others. She does this one stupid thing in the book that is stupid and selfless that I wanted to SCREAM! What her brother does is no better.

One thing I am grateful of is that there was no love triangle introduced. At first I thought there was going to be one between Tris, Four, and Uriah, but later Uriah gets with Marlene (which is sweet untill something really bad happens). Nope, just Tris and Four. Insurgent for them was like a love-hate relationship between them. One moment they were kissing, a few pages they are fighting over something the other did or is going to do (like the stupid thing Tris did). Reguardless, they still came back to each other and fought off all the stress and problems the other factions where causing them. Most of it kept pushing them more and more together (in my opinion). *Sigh. They are my second favorite YA Lit couple, right after Percy and Annabeth. :D

The ending: IT CAN'T END LIKE THAT! It was BAM and BOOM. Shocking really. I always wondered why Chicago was so enclosed and why a huge fence was around it. In Divergent, it said some of the Dauntless were guarding the fence from what was outside so nothing could get in. Turns out, it was the other way around. The fence is to keep everyone in. And.......nope, can't say anymore. But OMG, the cliffhanger was so huge I nearly screamed. It was...........it was wow.

Future: The last one in the Divergent Trilogy comes out NEXT YEAR! WHY!!!!!!

Dialogue between Tris and Four after Tris's 'timeout' in Candor. pg. 69

"Okay, okay!" He puts up his hands. "It's just...I'm not very nice either, you know. That's why I like you so-"

"Out!" I shout, pointing at the door.

Laughing to himself, Tobias kisses my cheek and leaves the room.

More dialogue between our love birds. pg. 311-2

"You would be fine." I dont' look at him. I stare at his T-shirt between my fingers and the black ink curling around his neck, but I dont' look at his face. "Not a first. But you would move on, and do what you have to."

He wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me against him. "That's a lie," he says, before he kisses me again."

He frowns at me. "Say it again."

"Tobias," I say, "I love you."

Insurgent will have you on the edge the whole way through it. The emotions and action and drama of it all will capture you and you will be screaming for more. Veronica Roth is a genius.

Rating:

I finished this thing at 12 in the morning. Not in one day, unforunately. I got addicted to Pinning just recently. But still, it's an all-nighter. :D

Divergent Movie Cast----casted by me!

Okay, so we all know this book is going to be a movie. Who wouldn't know? And how couldn't it? It's one of the best books out there. :D And with Insurgent coming up, who knows when we'll start hearing hints about cast members. Gosh, I'm so excited!

Anyway, so as a member of the Street Team for #TeamDauntless, it was my Challenge this week to do a post on 1) my own cast of the Divergent characters 2)books Dauntless people should read 3) movies Dauntless people should watch.
Obviously, I picked #1.

Here we are!

Tris

These two I picked because of roles they've played previously. Like Anna in Race to Witch Mountain and Dakota in Twilight Saga: New Moon. Both somewhat kick-butt movies.

Four

Luke Bilyk is from Degrassi, and in previous season he was a in ultimate fighting, making the physical aspect of Four down to a T. Plus he's hot. Same for Drew Roy. Cameron Bright I'm not too familiar with; I just picked him because I bet he could pull off Four's look.

Christina

Originally, I had Emily Osment, but then I forgot that Christina is darker. And the only person I could think of is Keke Palmer. I think she'd be good at being mean.

Eric

Most of the movies I've seen Jake Abel in he's the main antagonist. Why not Eric?

Peter

Both wer mean in The Hunger Games. They'd be perfect.

Will

Just look at him. He's nice. Already in a kick-butt movie. What more?
Albert

I chose him not because I'm being racist. I chose him because I think that he would be good at playing Albert. Plus, I can't think of anyone else who would do better.

Molly

Did you NOT see how this girl was in The Hunger Games? She was a b****! Perfect huh?

Edward

Don't know what drew me to J.T. Austin. Maybe it was that I recently watched him in a movie and he was kinda mean.

Myra

I look at Lily Collins as a more innocent character. It's going to be different to see her in Mirror Mirror as a princess that fight with a sword.


Well, there you have it. None of my characters were based on looks, just talent. I really hope we get word on a movie soon.

Dystopian April #4: Divergent

I have to say, this was one of the best dystopians I have ever read. I’m not saying this just cause, no. I really liked this book. It made me happy, mad, sad, and down right frustrated. I could’ve killed some people in this book! But that’s what made it exciting and suspenseful.

In Divergent, a futuristic Chicago is divided into factions: Dauntless, Amity, Abnegation, Candor, and Erudite. At 16, you choose which one you want to be a part of. You can either transfer or stay with the one you currently a part of. Well, Beatrice, later Tris, after taking her aptitude test found out she was Divergent, or that she had several matches. So, after careful consideration, she chooses Dauntless (Yay!) and starts her initiation. Well, as she starts going through it all, she finds out information that could very well get her and her old factions killed. But doing something about it would mean revealing she’s Divergent, and that’s something that will get her killed.

The faction thing is somewhat smart yet stupid. You don’t have to worry about finding a job, but you’re limited. You get food when you want, but like in Abnegation, you get a hamburger. Also, you don’t really get to think for yourself. You’re told what to do, but you do have a little free time. NO, let me rephrase that—you are taught to think a certain way. Blah.

And I see how Abnegation would be chosen to be the government leaders (And how Erudite might hate them), being selfish in all and would think of what’s best for the other factions and what they need. But obviously, they didn’t really think about what Erudite wanted. They wanted luxury and wealth, but Abnegation held it back. Not smart. Oh well, I knew in the beginning war was bound to happen with Erudite attacking Abnegation like that.

Tris…hmm…she’s like a Rose + Lena. Brave, kinda shy, out to discover herself, and a good fighter, mentally and physically. While in Dauntless, Tris finds out that she’s selfish yet still has that Abnegation a part of her. She wants to be a member, even if she has to take down her new friends. But she is kinda and supports her friends and tries to encourage them that they will all make it (except a few that get cut). She’s a kick-ass fighter and has a lot of determination. She’s a character to look up too. Well, down to in a way. She’s short. NO! FUN SIZED! Oh, and she has this addiction (or I think it is) or adrenaline rushes.

Four is complex. That’s the first word that comes to my mind when I think of him. He’s mysterious, but not in that dark and brooding way. He can be mean (like when he yells at an injured Drew) but usually it’s to make the initiatives work harder. His nickname Four is a result of a result from his initiation. Four is secretive, not claiming where he came from or what his family’s like. Why? His past is what made him. It’s not a pretty past, and we learn about it, but it makes him him. He never forgets it, and constantly tries to cover come it. But I believe he will in the second book because he has Tris.

Speaking of Tris and Four: their relationship. I really liked it. It wasn’t one of those mushy gushy relationships where the couple automatically says “I LOVE YOU!” and then is heartbroken when they have to split up. Or one of those couples where the girl has been in love the guy forever and then the guy realizes it, or visa versa. No, their relationship is based upon the fact that they came from Abnegation, where there intimate relationships are a no-no for teens until they grow up and are ready to marry. But even then it’s not overly intimate. In this, it’s their first crush. More Four than Tris, though she does blush and have her heart skip a beat when he’s near sometimes. But their relationship develops over time. A little over half way is when their relationship was official. It’s so cute! I love the chasm scene.

Future: Insurgent + one more! I can’t wait!

The book never failed to bore me. It kept my attention with all the action and drama. It's a story worth reading over and over again.

Rating

I'm giving this the Big Kahuna because despite that I didn't read it in one day, I really did like it. I never had such a great time reading this book. I made myself go to sleep because it was so late.
