So, remember when I reviewed my ARC of The Golden Lily

and loved it? Well, I don't know how many of you already knew the title, (and i'm not sure if I'm entitled to release this or not. another blogger did. And it's on goodreads. So.......)

I KNOW RIGHT!!!!! OMG! I love the title. Makes me wonder if all the title will have color references.

Review:

Richelle Mead is the author of the Vampire Academy series and the Bloodlines series. At first, I thought the title of the series overall was weird. Bloodlines? It's about protecting Jill from whoever want to kill her because they don't liek the new queen, Lissa. In this book, I get it.

In the book, we're introduced to a new set of people, the Warriors of Light. They are basically the Alchemists but they want all vampires gone. They go so far to kidnapp on of the vampires Sydney and Eddie are protecting (no, it isn't Jill). Anyway, Warriors of Light and Alchemists were once together, but they are know separate, but the W.o.L. want to unit together with teh Alchemists and destroy all the vampires, and these people make Sydney disgusted that they were once 'related'. And i was sad when i learned one of the supporting characters close to the others was a part of it.

Adrian is getting better. Honestly he is. I was happy that he stopped trying to drug himself when he got sad. And even though Dimitri is there, they just have a mutual relationship. He only tried to attack him (verbally) once. It was then forgotten. And he's become more protective of Sydney too. Speaking of which.......

The romance in this book is a bit better than the last. In Bloodlines, it was mostly about Jill and her relationship to Lee, who turned out to be evil. Now, it's about her and Micah and Eddie, who really likes her, and Angeline, who reallly likes Eddie but he doesn't like her. Jill is having trouble because Micah starts moving too fast, and the fact that she's not human and he is. And Eddie is suppose to be protecting her, not dating her. Angeline, well, she's really really like Eddie, but Eddie feels uncomfortable around her. But, heres the best one of all: Sydney, Brayden, and Adrian. Now, who is Brayden? Brayden is a male version of Sydney, and they get along very well since all they talk about is academic things. Adrian finally tries to talk to Sydney about his feelings, but because his dad decided to be an ass, he coudn't do it so well. And Adrian really has a big caring side to himself in this book. Loved it instead of his smoking drunk self.

Sydney has changed too. She's not as nervous around the vampires, but she's still warry of magic. As she dates Brayden, she finally comes to terms that hanging out with other kids her age isn't so bad, and that she wished she could do it more. And towards the end, she makes a big leap of faith and tries something every Alchemist woudl have disapproved of. She's strong, but she still has some reservations about anything dealing with her blood.

The ending was okay. I didn't like what happened in the end end, but the chiffhanger was okay. It was the huge event that happened in the end that I didn't like. Sydney is very stupid in this situations. Her stupid Alchemist beliefs get in the way.

Future: Book #3 is coming out in 2013. I happy that the series is going good, but sometimes six is too much.

Review: I love dystopians. I love the future. What made this book even better was taht it was a vampire dystopian. It was interesting. Vampires rules the world because of some disease that started killing humans or turning them into rabids (zombie vampires). The city, New Covington, is were our main character lives. If you've ever seen the city of Ba Sing Se from Avatar, the Last Airbender, then picture that but with vampires and black and poor and dirt everywhere. Then outside of the city is ruins from old cities and desert and forrest. Now, my details maybe just general, but Julie gets down to the bare bones. Her attention to detail is spectacular. In your mind, you can see everything as you read. Now, for those who aren't fans of a lot of details and bi paragraphs without dialogue and action, just thoughts and descriptions, remember, Allie is the main character and this is about her journey as a vampire outside of the city, so you're going to read a lot of her thoughts, especially when she's traveling with Zeke and his family.

The action in Julie's books is what I believe makes Julie's books her books. Since there could be rabids or evil vampires or evil bikers anywhere, the group was always on their guard. And when they did fight, there was a lot of fighitng and blood. The action is one of the best things I liked about this book. And a stubborn, kick ass girl (and she's Asian!) with a katana equals a lot of it.

Second thing I like about her books are her characters. Either they are goodie tooshoes or smart-asses or stubborn as hell. Allie's 2/3. She had spunk, and didn't give up. Sure, she's not that fond of being a vampire, but she still tries to keep in touch with her humanity by helping Zeke and the others reach Eden, an isolated island full of only humans. Even when they found out she's a vampire, she doesn't give up helping them. Plus, she's stubborn and won't listen to Zeke when he tries to make her leave.

The romance in the book is okay. Not as good as Ash's or Meghan was but good. Could have been a bit better. Zeke wanted to know Allie better and she wanted to bite him and make him a vampire. There were moments when they sharedc a bit of intimacy, like standing too close, but it could have been more. But I did liek how the tesion between them got so great that Zeke caved in and kissed her. *Sigh.

The ending sucked. I say this because there was a big ending cliffhanger. And I hate them. It left me mad and impatient. May 2013 is when the next one comes out. It's totally unfair!

Future: I HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR!

Review: Okay, so this one is a dystopian vampire novel. Yeah, that's right. A VAMPIRE DYSTOPIAN novel. :D

So, to start off this review, I want to say thanks to the author, Ada Adams, for asking me to review her book.

Anyway, I liked this book. I've never read a vampric dystopian. (Hopefully I'll have read two by the end of May.) It was interesting.

Pros

(In no particular order)

+ The opening. At first, I didn't like it because it sounded like something out of a cheesy contemporary novel. But later I realized that it was giving me hints on who and what is going to happen or who's going to show up.

+ I like the vampire president and the Scarlett House. The world in the book seems like there are two countries in one---human and vampire.

+ Opening scene in chapter one was amazing. Not going to elaborate much, but it had me thinking one thing when really something else was going on.

+ The kickass main character Dawn. Nice, strong, smart, determined, and a kickass fighter. For someone that's been sheltered all her life, she does fairly well on her own.

+ The boys in the book are different from other YA boys. I love that both of them have secrets instead of just one. Both are 'the new guy in town' instead of just one. Smart and strong. And the names, love them: Sebastian and Ethan.

+ Plot is different, along with the setting. Angel Creek is this out of the way town with not much to it. Few stores and a school. Library and a little diner. Cute, but at night it sounds creepy. Anyway, the town was founded by one of the character's family a long time ago. That is one reason that is part of the plot. In the plot is a plot for revenge. An old friend of the founding family is extremely mad at the family for something they didn't give to him a long time ago.

But that's not all. Dawn is there on a mission to train new guardians of the town since the old ones go off into the world to do TV related things. Dawn happens to be related to a person that the evil dude doesn't like, and he plans a bit of revenge on her.

+ In the book, there are two types of vampires. The Made and The Born. Dawn is one of The Born. The Born are ones that are created from another Born. By having a Born, you can stop your aging process and never die. If not, then you will slowly die. The Made are regular vampires.

+ Since this is set in the future, I like it that Vampires have come out and people love them. TV shows and special food and everything were created for them.

+ Awesome weapons. No question. After all, Dawn's fluent in all of them. :D

+ The plot twist with the drug, Vampriciol. That's right. Vampriciol. Love the name.

+ Question: can you clone a vampire? What do you thing about that? Think hard.

Cons

(In no particular order)

- MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!: In the book, it tells us that the bad guy was put into a coffin or a boat (can't remember) with dynamite into a lake to die. What I want to know is how he survived. Wished that was more elaborated.

- In my opinion, could use a bit more romance.

-Some things reminded me of Twilight (just the first book):

• The small town
• The Love Triangle
• The white house in the middle of forest
• The girl not wanting to go to the party (Bella vs. Dawn)
• Werewolves were involved
• The parent in the book was the dad.

There was a few more but not much. Despite this, don't let that stop you from reading the book.

Characters

- Hannah is okay. Talkative. Nice. Just a regular overexcited girl. One with, and I quote, "verbal-diarrhea".

- Brooke: status-airhead vampire cheerleader that goes around applying to high schools and becoming cheerleader and on a mission to be prom queen. One of the new guardians. At least she changes a bit and uses her brain.

- Hunter: drinker/druggie turned around and turned. Kinda doesn't care, but soon he starts too after what happens and when he lays his eyes on the weapons.

- Seth: shy kid, recently turned by Brooke. Loves video games. Good with computers. Can hack into anything once he gets started. Turns to be an okay vampire.

- Sophie: like Seth, but into books. Is very old. Her best friend turned her. Starts gainning confidence throughout the book.

-Sebastian: jerk with a hidden soft side. More than meets the eye.

-Ethan: sweet, kind bartender. Also, more than meets the eye.

ReVamped is one of a kind with it's futuristic vampire society packed with drama and twists.

Review: I love Lucy. Not the show, the character. She's my favorite heroine out of the entire series. Funny, brave, smart, and kickass fighter. Kinda like me. :)

Anyway, to the plot and overall stuff.

I love it that the Drakes' children and some children of other families can have children born human and later around sixteen they turn into vampire. I thought that was cool and creative. The bloodchange sounds like a bitch though. Anyway, girls being rare is awesome too. Usually when I read things like this, the boy is the rare born. Also, Solange and all the creepers that give her gifts because she's going through the change and her scent drives men insane. I love it and the wanna-be queen, Lady Natasha, crazy. She wants her dead because of some prophecy. Gotta love those.

Now the romance is something I really liked in this book, mostly between Nick and Lucy than Sol and Kieran, though I did like it. You'll learn about it later.

Review: Now, in this book, Helena, the mom of the Drakes, is going through the possess of becoming Queen of the Vamps and signing treaties along with her husband, Liam. As a sign of respect, they invite Isabeau, handmaiden to the leader of The Hounds, to their house to stay. Well, soon, her sire, Greyhound (i think that's his name) starts tormenting her with momentos of the past and soon she starts figuring out that it's him and wants revenge.

Mean while, while all this is happening, she and Logan fall in love. And they're perfect together since they both love France and French things, they speak it, and they are old fashioned. Logan dresses like a priate a lot. LOVE THEM!

Review: Hunter + Vampire + Old Tradional Grandpa = disaster.

Honestly, it does. So, in this one, Quinn is our main vamp. In this book, he helps Hunter, our heroine, out when students start getting sick and turning into Hel-Blar. Throughout this entire thing, Quinn also helps identify what's in the wacked-up pills some of the students are taking and soon he and Hunter start dating. Grandpa in the book thinks all vamps should be dead, and is dead set on Hunter NOT dating Quinn. This little fact plays a big part in Hunter's decision to date Quinn. That's all I'm going to say. No spoilers for you. :D

The negative side of these books:

Insta-love.

As much as it's used and a somewhat good element in many YA books, I am a firm believer that love takes time to develop. In the books, the romance usually developes over a day or so. The only exception is that Nick started to have feelings for Lucy a long time ago before he got up the nerve to ask her out, let alone kiss her. I'm fine with that. The rest, maybe it's that internal mating thing most paranormal creatures have. :)

Overall, The Drake Chronicles are a kickass series. I can't wait to get Bleeding Hearts & Blood Moon.
