Waiting on Wednesday #2

Hey there. W.O.W. is hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine that features coming out books for everyone to get ready for and to add to their ever growing list of 'to-read' books.
I'm waiting on:

Storm (Elemental #1)Storm: The Element Series
By: Brigid Kemmerer
Due Date: April 24, 2012
Goodreads: Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they have more power than you dream.
Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her, Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys—all the ones she doesn’t want. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water—just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.
The storm is coming . .
Why:
I love the idea of the elements. According to the Zodiac, I'm Earth, but I feel more into Water. I love it. But of course, with all the questioning of the Zodiac, I actually could be Fire. Since I'm adopted, I'm not sure when my actual birthday is, but I hope it's in the element Water.
Second reason: I had an idea for a book that is similar to this, but instead, my idea was that there are five boys instead of four. The fifth turned to the dark side. The brothers scattered to each part of the world to try to track him down. Then, Fire dude's friend, a girl (names aren't really in since this is only an idea) and she finds out about his secret. Then together, they decide to hunt down the rest of the boys and stop the Dark Brother from destroying the world.
See why I can't wait for this book? It would help me write my own.
Third: I LOVE AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER!
If you haven't watched this series yet, get to it. I love it. I haven't seen the movie, and personally, I don't want too. I think they might have strayed from the series. Beside, the TV version is SOOO much better.

Cover:
I like it. The guy in front, Chris, is hot. (Or, at least I'm assuming that it's Chris, since this book is about him.) The lightning in the background is perfect. Now the boys, they're a little fiffy. How about this: They would be cute if not for their hair. Their hair needs to be cut! No offense, but boys with long hair look stupid.
So, what are you waiting on?

Keep On Reading!

One innocent bystander later, the girls are suddenly at the mercy of Hades, Lord of the Underworld himself. To make them atone for what they've done, Hades forces the teens to become special-assignment Sirens, luring to the Underworld an individual whose unholy contract is up.
Finding that delicate balance between their fashion addiction and their new part-time job in the eternal hellfire biz turns out to be harder than Meg and Shar expected, especially when an entire pantheon of Greek deities decides to get involved. Then there's the matter of the fine print in their own contracts...

The Iron Knight review!!!

*MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*
Goodreads: Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.
Unless he can earn a soul.
To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prnkster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side.
To survive in the Iron realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. At least, no one has ever passed to tell the tale.
And then Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that turns reality upside down, challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Can I just say, I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was written beautifully, every page kept me focused and on edge, and I loved the characters. I'm just really sad to see it end, but I'm really excited for Ethan's series to start (that's Meghan's brother).
Also, big THANK YOU to Lovely Lit, who withouth her, I would have had to go out and buy the book. Instead, thanks to here, I won it! Thank you again!
Click here for her blog: Lovely Lit

Okay, on to a few notes. :D
  • Okay, I loved Ash in this book. Sure, I loved him before, but know that he's going through this big change into becoming human, he changes. Cold dark prince to light caring human. :D But, in the beginning when he still tries to kill Puck, and in other scenes when he tries to do dark things (not going to mention), I feel that even though he is doing this, he's still going to have dark moments here and there. Who knows? Oh, and SPOILER, his final trial, LOVED IT! I just wonder if it's going to happen, if so, will Ethan and Kierran be involved in the next series?
  • Puck. I was all for Team Puck. Still am. But, I'm happy with his Fate. He's still the funny loving trickster we all know and love. *Sigh* Puck, come and be my boyfriend. I know plenty of jokes and tricks to make you laugh. I was happy to see him support Ash through his quest as a good friend would. But in the beginning, I swear he was going to dump him and leave. In the beginning, Puck really lays in to Ash, yelling and fighting in all. I hope he gets a happy ending in the next series. :)
  • Ariella? Hmm.........interesting. I really did like her in the beginning, for a moment. Sure, I'm happy she decided to help Ash and his friends on the quest, but later on, she showed her other side. SPOILER! The side that has all her jealousy hidden. The side that longs to be by Ash's side and wants Meghan dead. After that, I really didn't trust her. I hate it how that afterwards, she retreated into herself and Julie made her seem like a fragile little girl. But in the end, I'm happy at what she did. I wonder if Faery will bring her back again.
  • Wolf. The Big Bad Wolf. The Wolf that ate Granny. Blah blah blah. In the beginning, he states his reasons for being there pretty clearly: "I'm here to further my story/reputation/character blah blah blah." (or something like that.) Selfish. That's what he is. BUT later on, he redeems himself by doing something very heroic to save everyone. (Read the book to find out). There, I saw he another side.
  • Grimalkin. Same cat. Sneaky, always disappearing at bad situations, always having someone owe them a favor. Sure, when they're in the Hall of Evil Reflections (i think that's what it's called), he's reflection is the same. And sure, he's only doing this to gain a favor from Ash, but I think he also cares about them all. Not just Ash or Meghan or Puck. No, I think somewhere deep down inside he cares about them. Whether he chooses to acknowledge it or not, I say so.
Well, I'm just really sad to see this series end, but I have no clue when the second series is coming out. I hate waiting. Well, if you haven't already read this series, GO READ IT! It's not a boring series; it's one that will hold your attention on every page.
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Cover Love #2

Check out these books that I found on goodreads. It's amazing what you can find on that site. :D
(Note: I found the pic online. I know there's a meme button/pic for the actual meme, but I forget who hosts it.)

Goodreads: James Phoenix is your average, typical teenage boy. He goes to school. He gets bullied. He even has typical teenage friends, Sarah Stone and Gabriel Wilson. Little does James and his friends know they are ancient descendants of Egyptian gods and have their own individual powers; Fire, Magic, and Lightning! An ancient war shall take place. An evil enemy of the Egyptian gods will rise and attempt to destroy the world. It’s up to James, Sarah and Gabriel to combat this evil, but not alone. The ancient Egyptian gods will aid them in their quest.
Just picture the Percy Jackson series with the Egyptian Gods instead of the Greek Gods. Should be interesting. hmm...........

Goodreads: On the surface, there’s nothing remarkable about Anna Rogan: She gets average grades, she’s not especially fashionable, she spends most of her time just hanging out with her best friend Rei. But Anna does have a remarkable secret: she has the ability to do astral projection. She uses her out-of-body experiences to explore the universe, until one day when there’s an accident at school and her classmate Taylor gets into her body. Now Taylor’s using her new identity to accuse an innocent boy of murder and she shows no signs of leaving Anna’s body. The only person who knows Anna’s secret is Rei, and as her feelings for Rei grow she must face a future where they can never touch...unless they can get find a way to get Taylor out of Anna’s body, stop the murder trial, and discover the true nature of Anna’s power.
Wish I could do this. It would be so cool!

So, there you have it!

Waiting on Wednesday #1!

YAY! First one!

Okay, so WOW is hosted by Jill from the Breaking the Spine. I will admitt, I had no clue why she chose this title until I actually thought about it. Clever. :D Anyway, this is supose to highlight what books are coming up that NO ONE can wait for. Seriously, why do we have to wait so long for books?
Here are mine:

Everneath (Everneath, #1)Goodreads: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.
She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.
Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.
As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's.

Of PoseidonGoodreads: Emma and her friend Chloe are spending vacation in Florida. When Emma (literally) runs into a hot guy named Galen on the beach, little does she know he’s a prince of the Syrena. Galen and Emma both feel something strange – is it attraction? – and Galen suspects that Emma might well be the girl he’s heard of – a human who can communicate with fish.
What follows is a deadly scene with a shark in which Galen witnesses Emma’s gifts. He must know more about her, and follows her back to New Jersey, and high school, to find out for sure if she’s the key to saving his kingdom. Soon, Emma can’t deny her feelings for him, but can’t explain them, either – and both she and Galen must learn more about where she comes from and what her powers are before they can trust one another and their feelings.

The Dig (Zoe and Zeus Trilogy, #1)Goodreads: Zoe Calder has always been an outsider. Stashed away in boarding schools since her parents died, Zoe buries herself in the study of ancient worlds. Her greatest thrill is spending her summers with her archeologist aunt and uncle on digs around the world. And one day, while investigating a newly unearthed temple in Crete, Zoe discovers a luminous artifact that transports her to ancient Greece.
As Zoe quickly learns, the Olympian Gods are real, living people—humans with mysterious powers… Powers that Zoe quickly realizes she has come to possess, as well. However, when the people of ancient Greece mistake Zoe for an Olympian, the Gods must restore the balance of the ancient world… No matter what.
Zoe is forced to play a confusing and dangerous game as Hera rallies the gods against her—all except for Zeus, the beautiful, winged young god who risks everything to save her.
Out of time and out of her element, teenager Zoe Calder finds herself in ancient Greece, battling against the power of the Olympians and the vengeance of a scorned goddess—all for the strange and mysterious boy she has come to love.

Underworld (Abandon Trilogy #2)Goodreads: Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn’t dead.
Not this time.
But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.
Her captor, John Hayden, claims it’s for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they’ve come back as Furies, intent on vengeance…on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.
But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there…and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies.
And unless Pierce is careful, this time there’ll be no escape

Okay, reason why I can't wait:

I LOVE GREEK MYTHOLOGY!

No, I'm serious. Ever since my friend Noemi got me hooked on the Percy Jackson series, I've been in love the with Greeks (and currently the Romans). To me, it was the Percy Jackson series that started all the Greek Myth-based books started. Love you Rick Riordan!

So, what are you waiting for?

Stupid Computer Repairman and an excerpt

Okay, more than just this post would be going up if not for my computer needing fixing. My anti-virus isn't working, and the guy we took it to is taking FOREVER to get it done. IT SUCKS!
Anyway, I'm over half way in the Iron Knight. I'm taking forever because the other day i was inspired by something from the book and I had to write it down. The scene I'm writing is taking forever to get out of my brain; thus, I haven't been able to read much. But, with Thanksgiving break and my mom NOT letting me go with her Black Friday shopping (X-mas shopping for her), I hope to have it done by this weekend. Bare with me. :D

And here's an excerpt from what I've been writing. (I bet you all thought the Stupid Computer Repairman was a book.) I think it's okay, but I would love to hear your comments on it. :D

Boyfriend? "Which sister was it?" I could feel Xander getting closer.
Cellia, we must go quickly! The guards are on my trial. Get yourself out of there and meet me back at the house!
Suddenly, I felt myself shaking. "Did you hear me?"
I shook my head. "No, sorry. I was out of my head for a moment."
He looks suspiciously at me with caution in his eyes. "Okay then. I said it was my sister Diana."
Damn it!
ARRROOO!
You could feel the shutters of the room all throughout your body. They rippled through your skin raising goosebumps along the way. Their waves touching everything.
ARRROOO!
"Your Ladyship! There's an assassin in the palace!" somewhere a guard yelled.
On the throne, the High Lady looked like she was ready to explode. She was clutching the arms of the chair so tightly that they were starting to crack from the pressure.
"FIND HIM!" she bellowed. "AND KILL HIM!"

So, what do you think?

Special Someon Saturday #2!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Special Someone Saturday is hosted by The Reading Fish. This has to be one of the cutest ideas ever! I wonder where she got the picture.
Anyway, today's question is:

Who is the toughest character you have ever discovered? It can be mentally, physically, or emotionally. what made them so special?

Now, this is a tough question. Who is the toughest character I've discovered? I have to say Ash from the Iron Fey series. Physically: Come on people, he's the former prince of Winter, son of Mab, the Queen of Winter. Special powers and a talent for the sword. He's got the physical part down. Mentally: If he puts his mind to it. I think that Ash can put himself through some tough decisions and if they're that strenuous and could possibly make him insane, I think he could get through it. Now emotionally: Yes, in a way. I mean, for years since Ariella died, he's kept his emotions buried away, never letting anyone in. That's got to suck. Keeping all that hurt in for years. To endure that pain for years has got emotional and mental toughness. :D

So, what about you? What character do you think is toughest character out there?

Special Someone Saturday

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Okay, I know it's not Saturday, but I decided to do this anyway. Special Someone Saturday is hosted by The Reading Fish.

This week's question is:

You were just given the wish to take one Book character out of the Book, and place them in your life....Who would be that character, and what role would they play in your life?

My choice is Puck from Iron Fey series. His role: my best friend. My best friends today I really don't see. I think that they're just my best friends because 1: we always sat by each other at lunch, and 2: because I never really talked to anyone else. In all actuality, I do have two best friends, Ben and Tanner, but Ben's too caught up in his girlfriend that I truly don't see him at all much. And I have no classes with Tanner, and he and I don't even see each other at all. In the morning before school he doesn't even come over and say Hi!
With Puck, he would make me laugh and make sure I'm having a good day. He would be a really good best friend, like he is with Meghan.

So, what about you? Who would you choose?
I love to hear comments (even though I've only gotten a few. I'm new after all.)

Vanish review

*MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Goodreads: To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?

In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

Okay, this is going to be a short review. Why? Because I'm so into Passion by Lauren Kate that I forgot some things, so bare with me. :D

  • First off, I love how she hooked us in the beginning. Immediately to a battle scene between Hunters and Draki. It didn't start off slow with just them getting back to the pride with a long boring car ride.
  • Second: SPOILER!Tamra manifested. I LOVE IT! Finally. The Underdog gets her moment!
  • Third: Cassian. What to think? I think he should be with Tamra so Jacinda can be with Will. SPOILER: I really don't like it how he plays with both girls' emotions. That's just not right. Sure, I'm happy that he's trying to get himself to like Tamra, but trying to force emotions on yourself to like another, it won't work. In my opinion, you'll just keep thinking of the other person you're trying to get rid of.
  • Fourth, I didn't like the way Jace moped around just because she was back and she couldn't be with Will. Geez. I would be trying to find a way out of that place, Mom or not. Sister or not.
  • Corbin. Creeper. Period.
  • The whole bonding thing--Arranged Marriage. What are we? Midevil? NO! But the ceromony was beautiful.
  • Will. I want to say he has Draki blood because the Hunters put it in them, but secretly, I think his dad fell in love with a Draki, she got pregnant with Will, she gave birth, and because of her pride, she had to leave him behind without a goodbye, Dad turns bitter, and starts hunting down every Draki for revenge. :D
  • Severin--Dictator!
  • Az (Azure)--I really like her name, but she's really stubborn since she couldn't take the time to listen to Jacinda's side of the story.
  • Miram: In all honesty, I think she got what she deserved. Spying on Jace and her family and who knows who else! I would be glad she would be gone. Sure, her death would be bad, but I rather have my privacy than have some snop hanging around me.
  • Jace and Tam's mom. SPOILER! Why does she have to drink? Why? Can't she just be depressed and over worked? Why does she have to drink? Drinking doesn't solve problems; it just creates them. On the positive side, though she was banished for being a "bad influence" on Jacinda and being human, she did leave a note for the girls to find her again.
Remember the Palm Tree. What the heck does that mean?
  • Last one: WHY IN THE WORLD DO THEY HAVE TO GO GET MIRAM!? Okay, I do know the answer: Jacinda has a guilty concious (if i spelled it wrong, oh well). She feels bad Miram is in the place she is now because of her. Well, if I was her, I would have either 1: Grabbed her and forced her to come with me when I had the chance to escape, or 2: I would have left her and NOT have gone back for her.
Future: I think they get her out, and they find out why Will has Draki blood. Plus, I think somehow they find a way to break 'the bond' between two of the characters.
